  1. The glass pattern on the side of this building reminds me a lot of the new Cummins building, and I like it. Maybe they can borrow from them with regard to the public green space and have David Rubin do the landscape architecture. I really like how the Cummins green space turned out and I think his firm is also doing something with the white river redevelopment?

  2. “The cost has not been finalized”. Translation— we have not yet determined how much taxpayer $ we are going to demand. But hey, there will be 100 square feet of public “green space”, so it’s all good.

    1. I wish the city would invest in some safe public facilities along the canal so people could enjoy it more “comfortably “

    2. James, I agree the canal and white river are wildly under utilized. Really the only “safety” lever is crowds that come with higher usage. What city “investments” do you suggest?

    1. Should that be a criterion, then proof glass should be implemented throughout the entire United States. Constructive comments and constructive criticism are much welcomed regarding improvements in the city of Indianapolis

  3. I think it will be beautiful. I only wish they would have thought about some restaurant/retail with this development. The lack of places to eat/shop along the canal seems like lost potential. Just my opinion.

    1. 100 percent agree. The canal completely underutilized from a retail/restaurant perspective. No reason that indy’s canal walk could not even subtly resemble those of other cities, namely San Antonio. With IUPUI so close by and a fair number of residents residing alongside or visitors staying along canal, this could be a unique and potentially booming spot for more commercial space. Seems like a large wasted opportunity. I used to live along canal and absolutely loved it and even still living in fountain square area, rarely visit canal due to lack of places to dine, drink, green space, etc. Happy to see development over baron parking lot I suppose at least.

    2. We have Steve Goldsmith to thank for the commercial/ residential character of the canal walk. When it was developed, the former killjoy prosecutor was mayor and didn’t want it to be full of bars. Too bad because it was a missed opportunity for the canal walk to be truly amazing entertainment district. Now it’s just a expensive trail for walking/jogging/biking.

    3. Robert, it just would’ve made one of the existing entertainment districts less than what was eventually realized.

  4. The canal needs more mid-rise development. This will be a perfect addition. It would be nice if the State develop or sell their property along the Canal and Ohio Street. Such a missed opportunity just like the block north of the Capitol.
